Voidloss - XV
The tenth HC Records vinyl is signed by the South African, with British nationality and based in London, Steve Voidloss.
For us, talking about Steve is talking about our absolute hero. The first thing we are saying is that he is the best friend we have ever made, both in clubbing and in music. A great person with a tremendous heart and humanity. It has been 12 years of pure love in this Voidloss / HC pairing since he performed in November 2010 in Valencia for Hypnotica Colectiva for the first time, thanks to our sister label Subsist Records.
Voidloss, besides being our fetish artist and the first one to sign a third vinyl in our catalogue, is the engineer who takes care of the mastering work for the manufacturing of our vinyl. The person responsible for the final master touch so that they sound like our records sound.
At the time of the fifteenth anniversary of the collective, we contacted the closest creators to our family, to find a track by each artist and to include them in a collection of various artists compilations for these fifteen years. Steve told us that he was not creating just a song for us, but a whole reference. No sooner said than done: Voidloss sent us this absolutely wonderful gift to which we could not resist paying tribute to with an individual vinyl, named XV by the artist himself.
Of the various occasions that Steve visited Spain with us, there was a great date, such as the official clubbing presentation of HC Records at Lanna Club in Gijón, hand in hand with our brother Luis BN and his incredible project Pure Works. This party was double: first, a preview at the magnificent The Bass Valley facilities, in the Asturian valley, where some members of the group performed Dj-sets. Once in the early hours of that Saturday 19th November 2016, the premiere of HC Records would take place, with that party at Lanna Club in Gijón, on the shores of the Asturian Cantabrian Sea.

After the live show, the after party would take place in a typical Asturian wooden house, where more members of HC would play, like Hector Mad from Madrid, and Steve's inspiration for the first song on this album would come from that daytime session.
A-1 Cohesion, Sunrays, Farmhouse, Gijón.
This is an acoustic piece without rhythmic structure that we qualify as a masterpiece of this genius. All the feeling of this cohesion among all electronic music lovers that we are in this together. This song is absolutely beautiful, a crossover with Skee Mask 07 vaporware re-interpreted by Donato Dozzy but in a Voidloss style. An almost-eight-minute wonder with a Win Mertens ending. Pure emotion. First tear warning.
A-2 I left my heart in Killing Time.
Steve's second track is a tribute to our Ruzafa sanctuary here in Valencia. 12 are also the years of the trajectory of this dance club of the Levantine underground. The title could not be more expressive. This pure feeling and melancholy song has his industrial techno structure signature. With two well-differentiated London-school parts, in the first one it tenses you up and, in the second, it directly makes your hair stand on end. Second tears-to-come warning.
B-1 Meat Hook Beauty (Iron Oxide and Blood Mix / Live At Lanna Club by Pure Works)
We return to the Asturian magic for the final and definitive version of the ultra-classic Meat Hook Beauty. The anthem with which this label started. This is the latest version of this completely iconic song for the author and for the collective. This is the common thread that brought us closer in its day, when in September 2009 we discovered the original song by the Portuguese label Labyrinth records. Since then, and on each of Steve’s visits, he has completely changed his live-set and only one song was repeated, Meat Hook Beauty, for which Voidloss prepared a new mix, a new edit, an updated version. After one of his live-sets in Valencia, we asked him if, for the following chance, he could create the definitive version in a warmer tempo. That opportunity came in Asturias and the impact was stratospheric.
With a kick on the verge of distortion, with extremely low frequencies, as if hidden in a sub-bass acoustic enclosure, the first break and stop of the song, with the church organ, absolutely tore our skin and you could see in our veins the flow of our hearts pumping as we felt that moment. The main keys appear in a measured tone replying to themselves with the help of the reverb. He breaks the song and directs us to his second break, where the artist mixes the following original argument of the song: that Andalusian influence that unites the artist and the collective so much, due to the passion that both have in this eastern course of the Spanish Middle Ages and the current southern Spain in the Andalusian region, where the British spent his childhood vacations and that left him completely influenced by what he saw and felt in those moments when creating music in his maturity. The final keys touches, in the replies, confirm this version as possibly the most complete and, at the same time, complex of this authentic hymn of universal techno that is almost 10 minutes long. The tears of pure emotion here are now definite.

B-2 The Last Sunrise
The vinyl is closed by this apocalyptic and very intimate vision of the author of the last sunrise that we lived together last May 2019 in Barcelona, after the Subsist Records showcase for its tenth anniversary at The Bass Valley BCN and driving through the streets of the Catalan capital, in search for the rest at the hotel and the farewell. That weekend, we walked together through the ancient Roman city of Barcino and through the medieval Gothic district, which Steve liked a lot. That was the last time we saw the great Voidloss in person, since then COVID-19 arrived and it has been impossible to see each other again. A decadent piece in the harmonies and with great depth in its development, it leads us to a very favourable-for-the-mix hypnotic ending.

Deep creation for lovers of progressive and futuristic techno. In this tracks, layers emerge through extremely beautiful pads for a full-scale cohesion of atmospheres and rhythms. Bonus 2. Sacrifices
To end this super gift from Steve, he gives us a tribute to the main element of this group, which is none other than sacrificing what is needed in life to be a form in it. Our attitude in our trajectory. Sacrifice is the almost 17 years of HC as a group and as a platform for this very thing, a way of life, true concepts and goals in the passion for music and ideals. This is a techno tool in tremendous and constant progression for a rude, rough dance floor, with power and sound violence.
As we have already mentioned, the cover image is an oil painting performed by the artist's own niece, Caitlin Schladwieler. This young but brilliant fine arts author reflects the industrial aspect of our synergy, with the southern art of these lands in classical dance and a tribute to his anthem Meat Hook Beauty.

El décimo vinilo de HC Records lo firma el sudafricano, con nacionalidad británica y afincado en Londres, Steve Voidloss.
Para nosotros, hablar de Steve es hacerlo de nuestro héroe absoluto. Lo primero que vamos a decir de él es que es el mejor amigo que hemos hecho nunca, tanto en el clubbing como en la música. Una grandísima persona con un corazón y una humanidad tremenda. Son 12 años ya de amor puro en este binomio Voidloss / HC desde que actuara, por primera vez, en Noviembre de 2010 en Valencia para Hypnotica Colectiva, a través de nuestro sello hermano Subsist Records.
Voidloss, además de ser nuestro artista fetiche y el primero en firmar un tercer vinilo en nuestro catálogo, es el ingeniero que se ocupa de las labores de mastering para el planchado de nuestros vinilos. El responsable del toque final maestro para que suenen como suenan nuestros discos.
Llegado el momento del XV aniversario del colectivo, contactamos con los creadores más afines a nuestra familia, para buscar un track de cada artista e incluirlo en el recopilatorio de varios artistas por estos tres lustros. Steve nos contestó que una canción no, que iba a crear una referencia entera para nosotros. Dicho y hecho: Voidloss nos envió esta auténtica maravilla de regalo al que no pudimos resistirnos de homenajearla con un vinilo individual, que es este del que venimos a hablaros y que el propio artista nombró como XV.
De la decena de ocasiones que Steve visitó la península y estuvo con nosotros, hubo una fecha grandiosa, como fue la presentación oficial para el clubbing de HC Records en el Lanna Club de Gijón, de la mano de nuestro Hermano Luis BN y su increíble proyecto Pure Works. Esta fiesta contó con un doblete: primero, un anticipo en las magníficas instalaciones de The Bass Valley, en el valle asturiano, donde ejecutamos Dj-sets algunos miembros del colectivo. Pieza acústica sin estructura rítmica que calificamos como obra maestra de este genio. Todo el sentimiento de esta cohesión entre todos los amantes de la música electrónica que estamos juntos con objetivos comunes. La belleza de la canción es absoluta, un vaporware 07 de Skee Mask re-interpretado por Donato Dozzy pero a lo Voidloss. El segundo track de Steve es un tributo a nuestro santuario de Ruzafa aquí en Valencia. 12 son los años también de trayectoria de este club de baile para el underground levantino. El título no puede ser más expresivo. "Dejé mi corazón en Killing Time". Esta canción de puro sentimiento y melancolía en una estructura de techno industrial marca de la casa. Con dos partes bien diferenciadas muy de la escuela del londinense, en la primera te tensa y en la segunda te pone directamente los pelos de punta. Segundo aviso de lagrimones que van a venir...
B-1 Meat Hook Beauty (Iron Oxide and Blood Mix / Live At Lanna Club by Pure Works)
Volvemos a la magia asturiana para la versión final y definitiva del ultra-clásico Meat Hook Beauty. El himno con el que este sello echó a andar. Esta es la última versión de esta canción completamente icónica para el autor y para el colectivo. El medio transmisor que nos acercó en su día, cuando en Septiembre de 2009 descubrimos la canción original por el sello portugués Labrynth records. Desde entonces, y en cada visita de Steve, cambiando completamente el directo para cada ocasión, solo se repetía una canción que era Meat Hook Beauty, para la que Voidloss preparaba una nueva mezcla, un nuevo edit, una nueva versión. Tras uno de sus directos en Valencia, le preguntamos si, para la siguiente ocasión, podía crear la versión definitiva en un tempo más cálido. Esa oportunidad llegó en Asturias y el impacto fue estratosférico.
Con un bombo al borde de la distorsión, con frecuencias muy bajas, como escondido en un recinto acústico subgrave, el primer break y la parada de la canción, con el órgano eclesiástico, nos desgarró la piel absolutamente y se podía ver en nuestras venas el flujo del bombeo de nuestros corazones al sentir ese momento. Las teclas principales aparecen en un tono pausado contestándose a sí mismas con la reverb. Rompe la canción y se dirige a su segundo parón, donde el artista mezcla el siguiente argumento original de la canción: esa influencia andalusí que tanto une a artista y colectivo, por la pasión que ambos tienen en este transcurso oriental del medievo peninsular y el actual sur de España en la comunidad andaluza, donde el británico pasaba vacaciones en su niñez y que le dejó completamente influenciado lo que vio y sintió en aquellos momentos a la hora de crear música en su madurez. Los toques de teclas finales, en las contestaciones, confirman esta versión como posiblemente la más completa y, a su vez, compleja de este auténtico himno del techno universal que se va a casi los 10 minutos de duración. Los lloros de pura emoción aquí ya son totales.

B-2 The Last Sunrise
El vinilo lo cierra esta visión apocalíptica, y muy íntima, del autor del último amanecer que vivimos juntos el pasado mayo de 2019 en la ciudad de Barcelona, tras el showcase de Subsist Records por su décimo aniversario en The Bass Valley BCN y conduciendo por las calles de la capital catalana, en busca del descanso del hotel y la despedida. Ese fin de semana caminamos juntos por la ciudad antigua romana Barcino y por el barrio gótico medieval muy del gusto íntimo de Steve. Esa fue la última vez que vimos en persona al gran Voidloss, ya que después llegó el COVID-19 y ha sido ya imposible volver a vernos. Una pieza decadente en las armonías y con suma profundidad en su desarrollo, nos conduce a un final hypnotico muy favorable para la mezcla.

Nuestra actitud en nuestra trayectoria. Sacrificio son los casi ya 17 años de HC como colectivo y como elemento transmisor de esto mismo, una forma de vida, unos conceptos y unos objetivos en la pasión por la música y los ideales. Este es un tool techno en tremenda progresión constante para una pista de baile ruda, áspera, con potencia y violencia sonora.
Como hemos indicado, la imagen de portada es un cuadro al óleo retratado por la propia sobrina del artista, Caitlin Schladwieler. Esta joven pero brillantísima autora de las bellas artes, refleja lo industrial de nuestra sinergia, con el arte sureño de estas tierras en la danza clásica y un tributo a su himno Meat Hook Beauty.
